Folds of Honor

It is our privilege to announce that a portion of the proceeds from The Armed Services Marathon, 1/2 Marathon & 5K will be donated to the “local” (Grand Haven/Michigan) chapter of Folds of Honor.

History

Founded in 2007 by Lieutenant Colonel Dan Rooney, an F-16 fighter pilot in the Air Force Reserves who served 3 tours in Iraq, the Folds of Honor is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization rated a “4-star” charity by Charity Navigator and “Platinum” on GuideStar, that provides educational scholarships to the families of military men and women that have fallen or been disabled while on active duty in the United States armed services. These educational scholarships support private educational tuition, tutoring for children in grades K-12 and higher education tuition assistance for spouses and dependents.

Certfied Courses

The entire event is sanctioned with USA Track and Field. The marathon and half marathon courses are also measured and certified with USA Track and Field. The marathon course is a qualifying event for the Boston and New York City Marathons as well as the Abbott World Marathon Majors. The half marathon is also a qualifying course for the New York City Marathon.

Walkers

Walkers ARE welcome for ALL the distances. The marathon has a 6 hour time limit. If you’re not able to finish the marathon in 6 hours, DON’T BE DISCOURAGED. We offer a special start time of 1 hour early (7:00AM) for those unable to finish the marathon in 6 hours. This early start is NOT available to anyone else.

Pets & Strollers

While all family members are encouraged to participate, we need you to keep your “furry” family members home. Pets will NOT be allowed at the venue or on the course.

Running strollers WILL be allowed. Since most of the run is on bike paths, we need you to start at the back and also run single file.
